What our clients are saying

“It opened up the possibilities of things that we could make”

— Wood and Harrison

“Not having to worry about the outcomes… because I knew that it was just going to be ok”

— Nick Grellier

We worked with Lisa and Mark at Plenderleith Scantlebury to realise a large-scale work in a recent gallery exhibition. Due to the size of the work and the time restraints, it could not be completed in the artist's studio. Mark and Lisa created the large fibreglass tusk to a set of strict measurements to ensure it matched the work we were making in the studio.

I particularly liked Mark and Lisa’s enthusiasm for the project. They were happy to send texture samples and were on hand to answer any questions throughout the process.

We recently contacted Mark and Lisa for a 1 to 1 when starting work on an upcoming project. They offered advice and alternative solutions to help me realise the artist's desired outcome.

I would recommend Plenderleith Scantlebury to companies and individuals needing help realising large projects or pushing their material research to the next level.

— Hope Stebbing Johnsen, Studio Manager at Claire Morgan Studio

I had an online consultation with Lisa at Plenderleith Scantlebury to explore the options to make a very fragile, small sculpture more robust in a way that would be suitable for public exhibition.

I have worked with fabricators for large scale public artworks before, but this is the first time I have consulted one about my smaller, studio pieces.

I found it particularly helpful to discuss alternatives, see examples of the materials we discussed and how they have been used in other contexts.

I would recommend a consultation with Plenderleith Scantlebury to artists making self-funded experimental pieces. It’s really useful to have focussed time to explore the options, ask questions, and clarify what needs to be done next.

Future Memorial, Julia Vogl

"Plenderleith Scantlebury are incredibly talented, kind, and very perspective fabricators. They made Future Memorial the gorgeous work that it is, by understanding my vision, and creating with such care a modern-day equivalent cast of a Victorian Grave ornament- it was a pleasure to work with them!"

— Julia Vogl

Guardians, Rebecca Moss

"Plenderleith Scantlebury were an absolute pleasure to work with for my Guardians project. I knew that my mould would have to not only be extremely robust for my concrete casting but also that the casters would have to be extremely sensitive and careful to the original statue. Plenderleith Scantlebury had extensive knowledge about the appropriate materials and techniques to use for my mould and were painstakingly thorough in their approach. Their experience working with artists meant that they intuitively understood what I needed for my project and it was reassuring to receive regular updates about progress. They were also able to advise about future maintenance and care of the mould to prolong its life. I would recommend their work without hesitation."

“I worked with Lisa at Plenderleith Scantlebury to support my project development for the design and manufacture of some cast outdoor panels. In particular, Lisa helped me think through the various materials and methods I would employ. As well as very clear information about how to achieve the best results, Lisa pointed me to certain suppliers.

I found the service easy to access and good value. I sent ahead information about the project which Lisa assessed, and then we had a Zoom call to talk through the process. That was two hours in total, well spent.

I would recommend Plenderleith Scantlebury to artists who need guidance on any practical project that is a little bit, or a lot outside of their comfort zone.”

 — Sophie Howard

I would recommend Plenderleith Scantlebury to artists that are looking to get quality fabrication advice that considers your budget and specific circumstances.”

I worked with Lisa at Plenderleith Scantlebury to help me figure out a system to hang my porcelain wall sculptures.

Lisa talked through all of the options with me and we found a few really good solutions – she totally understood my need to keep things simple and uncomplicated. It was so helpful to talk to someone with such a breadth of knowledge and experience. It really made me feel in safe hands with the concerns I had. I have worked with Lisa and Mark at Plenderleith Scantlebury on many occasions to fabricate bespoke works and components of larger installations. I particularly like working with Mark and Lisa as they are easy to talk to and take the time to listen.

I enjoy working with Lisa and Mark and expect to continue working with them for many years to come.

Before I started working with Plenderleith Scantlebury, as an emerging artist I was struggling to understand the process of translating my ideas from prototype form to industry-level professional artwork.

It was meant that although the concept and ideas were fully formed and were being received well, I held back from pursuing exhibition opportunities because I wasn’t completely happy with the physical presentation of my piece.

Lisa and Mark’s advice taught me more about the production process and how I can begin to move to the next stage of my career.

I particularly liked the fact that they were willing to contribute to the design process and help with problem-solving, offering solutions and materials that I hadn’t previously considered. They were open to all my questions, showing me around their studio and expanding my ideas about what might be possible with future projects.

The experience gave me confidence in the feasibility of my work and a good understanding of the next steps.

I would recommend Plenderleith Scantlebury consultations to emerging artists who are looking to further their career and exhibit high-quality work in industry.
